How Time Flies
Rushing headlong, see how it flies,
Stop it we can't, even though we try
Stressed and spinning, late to bed
While visions of quiet streams dance in our head.
Working so hard, stomachs tied in knots
Popping those pills, glad they aren't shots!
Tossing and turning upon our beds
As sleep escapes, from worries in our heads!
Our children neglected, see how they cry
"Mommie" and "Daddy" as we pass by.
"Do you have a minute?", we hear them say.
"Here's twenty, my son. I have to run, let me pay!"
Our friends forsaken, our churches, too
We haven't the time, surely that's true!
"It's not that I'm heartless," we have to say
But surely you know that the Piper we have to pay!
But Heaven's awaiting, you know that will be
One appointment not missed, by you and me!
Before the Judge someday, we will stand
Ready or Not, What's your plan?
For Mercy and Grace on Him I depend
For surely, I know, my ways I can't mend!
My answer, "Please save me and take me on high,
One day, when I reach the end--as my time flies!"
