Here
is what you will need to make one of these
quilts
for your very own.
Faye Burden makes beautiful
lone star quilts where the eight "points" are one big "string
pieced" 45 degree diamond. She foundation pieces her points on paper
for accuracy by making a foundation diamond of paper the size of each point
on her star and sews strips of fabric onto the stabilizing paper until
it is covered. Once you string piece all your points, this quilt will go
together quickly. Add some borders to bring it to your desired size and
you will have an easy, quick and just beautiful quilt.
If you have a scrap bag full of fabric strips, a collection of many
florals or just like to *collect* theme fabric, this quilt is perfect for
you.

See 20 other quilts and garments made by Faeb (her screen name) on her site. (You really have to see these!) Faye has made over 50 of these quilts and has graciously offered to let me share some directions with you. Her first words of advice are, "You can't stop at making just one of these quilts, so preparing some templates ahead of time is a real time saver". |
