The
Pointed Line-Blue is a small butterfly which is occasionally common in
certain locations within the nature reserves and in some areas near the
swampy mangrove outcrops. The males are a deep purple above and unmarked,
whilst the females are brown with a hint of bluish-purple at the wing
bases. The underside is a dull greyish-brown with white striae.
There is an orange crowned black eyespot at the tornal area of the hindwing.
The species possesses a fine white-tipped tail.
Males of the Pointed Line-Blue
can often be found settled at moist spots on forest tracks. The butterfly
has a fast erratic flight, but when disturbed from its feeding ground,
it usually returns to the same spot after a while. |
