The
Long-banded Silverline is rather rare in Singapore, usually seen in the
mid-morning hours on flowering plants. A favourite is the Mile-a-Minute
(Mikania micrantha) flowers. The striking underside of this
butterfly comprise five or six silver lines broadly edged with dark red
on a pale yellow background. The species has two pairs of white-tipped
tails and an orange tornal area on the hindwings.
The caterpillar of this species
is known to feed on, amongst other plants, the Guava (Psidium guayava). |
