Prosotas nora superdates (Common Line-blue)
The Common Line-blueThe Common Line-blue is a small butterfly, with a wingspan of about 10-12mm.  In the male, the upperside is a bluish purple with a very narrow black border on the forewing above.  The female is dark brown above with an almost imperceptible blue basal area.  The underside is of an ochreous hue with dark brown fasciae with white margins.  The butterfly also possesses a pair of thin white-tipped tails.
The Common Line-blue is occasionally common in coastal areas like Khatib Bongsu and Sungei Buloh Nature Park.  Elsewhere, individuals are encountered at moist spots on the forest tracks.  The butterfly has a restless flight when in search of food, but can feed for long periods on damp spots unless disturbed.  In this photo, the butterfly was so preoccupied with what it was feeding that even when disturbed, it remained at the same spot without flying off.
