Miletus symethus petronius

This species is occasionally common in certain localities, but more often found singly along shady forested paths.  Miletus symethus petronius is easily recognised by a whitish forewing basally dusted with bluish grey, with a mainly blue-grey hindwing. The butterfly has a weak flight, but very often when disturbed from its perch, it flies erratically without stopping to rest for quite some time.  The caterpillar of this species feeds on several species of aphids and coccids attended by ants. We have observed adults of this species feeding on the "honeydew" produces by aphids or coccids.
