Cecil & Dipstik Duck

I stopped drawing the strip in 1981 and was hired as a video-cartoonist by the Warner-Amex "QUBE" cable TV network in Columbus, Ohio. The network went tits up in '85 and Nicky and I moved to Mexico. We moved north of the border to Boulder City, NV in '89 and we're still here. I resurrected C&D in the local weekly for therapy, and it ran until '96. These were popular strips --

In '92 George Bush paid a surprise political visit to Las Vegas. C&D ran in two Vegas weeklies at the time and by coincidence this strip appeared on the day of his arrival. An aide spotted it and now the original is in the Bush Presidential Library in College Station, Texas.

My son, Ryan, developed in to a star rock bass player in Seattle. On a visit to Boulder City in '94 he pulled this joke. I said, "Dammit, boy -- I'm gonna swipe that gag."  I did.

Yucca Mountain, 90 miles north of Las Vegas, has been selected East Coast politicians as a neat place to store the nuke-puke their states generate. Nobody gives a damn about Nevada except the people who live here -- obviously, C&D live here.

Nevada is a huge state, but the Federal Government owns and controls 85% of it. Most of the area around Boulder City is governed by the Bureau Of Land Management and the National Park Service. There's nothing more irritating than a bored bureaucrat . . .
