| Captain America 388 Review |
| First off, I loved this run of Captain America, Diamondback is an awesome character and Ron Lim's art was super. This was part 2 of 6 of the Supremia Stratagem. Marvel did a thing where they published select titles 2 issues per month for 3 months, and Captain America was one of those titles, so this meant a regular story by the regular creative team, followed by a smaller feature by another team, thus the main story was shorter,but it was great, made the summer trips to the shop a lot of fun. In the first part Captain A and Paladin team up to go after Diamondback who has been taken to an all female ship as part of Superia's plan to sterilize the planet, except for the superpowered females she has safe, thus making them the most desired and powerful people on the planet. Captain A is attacked by Modam and he, Paladin and John Jamison have to eject the ship. They land safely and then Paladin is able to damage Modam enough that they are able to set up a life boat. Captian A has lost his prized shield though, which is a dilemna in the large body of water they have landed, Paladin is told to hunt for it, which he begrudgingly does. The scene shifts to the ship Superia where all the ladies are. Diamondback(DB) and her two friends Black Mamba and Asp meet Impala, they would later team up and form BAD girls(with Imala hanging out with them...)The Scene is disrupted by a "cat fight" .I guess you would call it that... |
| Quicksand and Anaconda mix it up. Meanwhile, Paladin has found the shield and a mysterious person drugs DB while everyone is watching the fight. |
| Then as the trio(male) is waiting until Vision can come(they don't want to have another ship go down due to mind control ala Modam like last time...) they are given a rude greating from a new duo... Blackbird and Moonstone! |
| Moonstone sinks the inflatable raft and starts blasting away at Cap. Paladin is caught in a wrapup wire claw of Blackbirds and falls overboard unable to get untangled. Cap then dives down to help. Moonstone strafes the area with moonblasts and grazes Cap. Scene chage back to DB. |
| Rachel(DB) is confronted from a person from her past...Snapdragon...and Snapdragon has revenge on her mind... |
| Bathing suit and no throwing diamonds against a suit of armor with a grudge- result- DB gets taken out. Snapdragon then tosses the unconscious DB over the side of the ship,and the rest...is continued in 2 weeks! Or in the next issue review! |
| It is short but a sweet issue, the main part with Moonstone occured in this issue although the fight is wrapped up in the next issue. There isn't any sort of development of the character in these issues, but she is well drawn and Diamondback is a big draw also, even without the magenta hair. There is just a ton of female villians shown so it was good that the writers chose out of that whole host Moonstone to be one of the main baddies shown. |
