Dazzler #32 Review
I'm not a Dazzler fan, but this book is worth a peek since it does feature the Inhumans, and gives some insight into Moonstone's "relationship" with Blackout, which adds a layer to the classic "Avengers Under Seige" storyline.
The story begins with Allison Blaire, Dazzler, in civies,(which incidentally she is in the entire book,no costume is ever shown). She is an aerobics instructor and in the phase of  "I have powers, but want to lead a normal life mode..." Suddenly two "friends" drop in for an urgent visit...Lockjaw and Medussa. They have a problem on the moon, in the Blue Area, where the Inhumans live... there is a dark cloud approaching them and they are unable to discern its source or how to stop it. they want Dazzler to come to the moon to shed some "light" on things...
Dazzler is not able to go help her friends, despite the fact, as Medussa points out to her, they have helped her when she was attacked by the Absorbing Man. Allison is then conflicted over what to do... she then suddenly remembers her class and rounds up the few brave ones left and finishes her class. Later she goes out for a coffee with one of her "pupils", an aspiring dancer, following that she sees a mysterious twosome...
Guess who? They are just wandering the streets waiting for Lockjaw to rest before teleporting home. Still concerned about her job and wanting to make sure she is back on time, she reluctantly agrees to go to the moon...
Meanwhile on the moon we find out the source of the dark(force) cloud. Blackout has sealed himself and Moonstone in this cloud, along with some air as they make their way towards the Blue Area of the moon. Moonstone is on a mission to try to find more of the stones that gave her her amazing power. She is surprised to find a city in the middle of it, so she got the dark force cloud up to shield their approach. We see Blackout straining to keep up the cloud, and we get some insight into how Moonstone is just using him to further herself in gaining more power.. once she acheived that Blackout would be tossed aside like yesterday's news...
There is a panel of reference to Avengers 236-7 and these two at Project Pegasus. Moonstone went there to rescue Blackout, as part of the grand scheme of a future Masters of Evil plan against the Avengers.
Using Black Bolt's amazing voice as fuel, Dazzler channels that to create an amazing light blast that allows Quicksilver to approach in the attempt to take out the source of the cloud. He is met with a moonblast instead! Moonstone then blasts away at the Inhumans palace causing some significant damage. Blackout recovers from Dazzler's light show to erect another darkforce cloud. He has though, been smitten with Dazzler's looks and muses over how he isn't going to be hanging around with Moonstone forever...(editor's note:He IS crazy...) Dazzler blasts away again. Moonstone gets peeved and lets loose a blast of light that illuminates the entire skies... Reed Richards notices the light show and contacts them. Crystal tells him to just stay ready, but that they will try to deal with it... and the battle of light and dark continues on the moon... going back and forth until Blackout, blacks out.
With the darkforce cloud gone, so is the air, and eventually Moonstone falls also. Both are collected by Quicksilver and the Inhumans celebrate, with Dazzler, over their victory. Reed Richards informs the Inhumans of their identities and suggest Lockjaw teleport them back to Project Pegasus... which apparently he does. Dazzler gets home in time for a one minute sleep and then drags herself to work late... where she is accused of... wait for it... moonlighting.!
This issue certainly portrays Moonstone in a proper light and showcases her manipulative skills as well as her power. With it's tie in to Avengers Under Seige, it is worth having in your collection, and it won't cost much... I got my copy for $2 Canadian.
