Spectacular Spiderman 61 Review |
On a mission to steal a special device(the Enervator) from Dr. Curtis Connors, aka the Lizard. Moonstone is discovered by Spiderman. She doesn't take kindly to being found out and the battle ensues |
After a brief battle where she gets her mask webbed up, she quickly removes it and manages to steal the device. She escaped Spidey by letting go with a powerful moonblast, the impact knocking him, and his friend Marcy Kane around. After just getting powered up with the device (which unbeknownst to her is leaking radiation) Spiderman tracks her down and it is round two. |
During the battle Spiderman manages to rip the Enervator off her, she fakes being out, only to surprise Spidey and get a few good shots in. After she topples a crane, Spiderman is able to keep it from harming innocents and swings it so it takes her out. He then stops the device from exploding and takes off to visit Marcy in the hospital. Moonstone is apparently taken into custody. |
This issue also gives a recap of her history and some past experiences with Dr. Faustus, her stealing the moonstone, and her time with the Corporation and subsequent battle with the Hulk. A tidy little history summary. It also looks into her early character development and her ranting against men and the fact that she is always working under a man while fighting to gain acceptance in an area dominated by men. It is curious that early in the story as she is breaking into the Lab, she is disguised in a pair of jeans, jacket and men's hat. Spidey is surprised when she sheds those clothes to reveal ALL woman. A pic of that "shedding" is in the Cowardly Karla pic gallery, showing off the yellow costume. This issue is definitely worth a look, despite the attiutde that she is a whining feminist, it has a good summary of her history up to that point, we see her win at all cost attitude, as well as the brains and deceptiveness which she now has down to a fine art. |
