About Sustainability
The School of Sustainability  (SOS)

We are finding and implementing solutions to environmental and social
problems that can be implemented in your own life, in your local
community, and globally. We will help you develop skills that will foster communities that are more ecological, cooperative, and personally fulfilling.  This school is on the cutting edge of what is needed in our time of danger to species in all areas of the world.  We
are at a turning point of our planet.  We may make it.  If we do, it will be because people are changing their lives daily.  There is no other way.  It is not about being smarter or having more money.  It is
about changing our life patterns.

Our studies provide a holistic overview to the concepts and practices
of permaculture including:  organic gardening, natural building, appropriate technology,  renewable energy,  sustainability, and  urban applications.  Through personalized instruction and hands on
application, the courses immerse participants in the theoretical, physical, spiritual, and social aspects of ecovillages, community living, and permaculture and higher consciousness.  The Sustainability
Course provides deeper exploration of the standard sustainability offerings, because we are consciousness based in our approach (see
www.mum.edu for more on this approach).    There will also be the opportunity to explore subjects that are not usually covered in other
sustainability design courses, such as: developing consciousness directly, intentional community relations, ecovillage design, personal growth, interpersonal dynamics,  health and well-being, simple living skills, earth-based crafts, and an assortment of vedic topics such as architecture, prediction, holistic and purification skills and
practices.  The longer time frame of the program also allows for more and deeper experiences through extended hands-on activities and the
profound experience of living in community. You will have the opportunity to develop knowledge and skills with an incredible team of
experienced residential instructors and nationally known guest instructors. Our courses are led by some of the most experienced
sustainability teachers in the United States.

Holistic Natural Clinic

We have developed a clinic for healing the body of various chronic
diseases, such as diabetes, hypoglycemia, cancer, chronic fatigue
syndrome, and other common and current maladies in our culture.  We
use large doses of raw foods and curtailment of damaging dietary
practices. We help one another and support each other in our healing.
This is deeply connected to the sustainability emphasis in the school.

The Gathering Place

We have residential and community gathering places for deepening
interaction and exchanging ideas and developing community which is the
basis of sustainability extending itself to others.  Individual
sustainability is the basis of collective sustainability.
