Cuchulain the Irish Wolfhound is a figure of Celtic folklore, a heroic warrior. The Guardians of the Galaxy Annual revealed that Cuchulain, like Thor and Hercules and other figures who are generally thought in the Marvel Universe to be mythological, actually existed. Cuchulain has various adventures in the future of the Marvel Universe alongside the Guardians of the Galaxy, but it is his past that is relevant here. Cuchulain was a Celtic hero in the undefined past, although he was loyal to Conor, reportedly king of the Ulaids of northeast Ireland around the beginning of the 1st century B.C.E. Cuchulain is remembered as "hero of the Red Branch Knights...adversary of the Scots Giant, Finn MacCool...the man who fought off a hundred opponents with one arm lashed down" and the man who "single-handedly thrashed the giant Hound of Culann."
Cuchulain uses a sword and the spear Gae-Bolg, has superstrength (he can fight Drax the Destroyer to a standstill) and can perform Hulk-like "salmon-leaps."
