First Appearance: Tomb of Dracula #25 (October 1974).
Appearances: A number of others.
Years Active: Late 1940s-present.
Hannibal King, a private eye, had the misfortune to run afoul of the vampire Deacon Frost during an "industrial espionage" case while in England. Frost attacked King and changed him into a vampire. King refused to completely give in to the call of vampirism and refused to attack humans, subsiding on animal blood. (This allowed him to survive his transformation back into being human in the pages of Doctor Strange when the Montesi Formula erased all vampires from Earth.)
In an issue of Journey into Mystery it was revealed that King was transformed into a vampire during the late 1940s.
King is a vampire, with all of the usual powers and abilities which vampires in the Marvel Universe possess.
Notes: The Journey into Mystery story contradicted an
earlier story in Doctor Strange which claimed that King had been
a vampire for only five years. But since I like King as a character I'm
going with the story that gives him a longer history.
