Moon Knight, the modern hero, is the servant of Khonshu, the Egyptian god of the moon. Apparently Khonshu has appointed other human agents to serve him throughout time. So it makes a certain amount of sense that Khonshu would have activated another human to be his servant during WW2, Egypt being an important battleground during the War. And, who knows, perhaps Khonshu appointed still more humans to be his Moon Knights in earlier years when Egypt was important?
