RAZORLIGHT. Remember the name. Razorlight is a brand-new band from London, and they don't release their CD yet. But one is in my hands now. Yes, it's just A DEMO, but valuable enough. After I listened to it, I decided I would follow them THOROUGHLY the latter half of this year!
Three songs are in demo, "Rock'n'Roll Lies", "Rip It Up", "In The City". Keynote is a sound between '80s new wave and '60s garage. But they have a considerable difference from revival bands. Vocals have feelings of blue and nihilistic voice tone. Guiter makes rough riffs, but, at the same, makes an unspoiled melody. Bass nestles up to songs and "sings" as well. Their sounds make people move.
Why Strokes, Libs are so special - if it is because "they sublimate perplexity and painful into lyricism", Razorlight, too, is a special band, like them.
At any rate, you should listen to their debut single. It'll be out in August. Rock'n'roll wrings our heart and if you know that pain, you and Razorlight will certainly fall in love with each other.
