Razorlight's Golden Touch
You've probably heard Razorlight's new single Golden Touch recently. It's a pure sounding three minute blast of perfect pop... with a darker side.

"We all just felt right at the very first rehearsal, there was something in the air. It was not a question of 'if' we could get it together but 'when'.

"The whole process of rehearsals felt very logical and gradual and we worked hard at getting better and better.

"I had been playing in bands in my native Sweden but they went nowhere and I thought 'that's it'. So I'd given up on making music my fulltime thing.

"But then I moved to the UK and was in London wondering what to do with my life and I went to see a couple of bands.

"I came out of the gig and thought 'I want to be in a band'. I think in life you should do one thing really well and Razorlight is it.

"Yes the single is melodic but it has got some dark elements as have the rest of our songs. The good thing about the present music atmosphere is that now you can have good tunes and still be really hard.

"We've just finished the first album, Up All Night, and I think we've got it 94% right. Towards the end the process of recording began to wear us down, we were doing overdubs and mixing two tracks every day. But we got it finished and hopefully it sounds great.

"The present tour is all about, firstly having fun and getting even better as a live band. And we hope it will plug the album.

"We've played Leeds quite a few times all at the Cockpit. I remember the first time we were supporting Hiss and that was in front of a 'crowd' of about 15 people. I think 40 people watched us support the Bellrays. By the time we were there with the Raveonettes it had grown to 100. And lastly on our own tour we got about 300.

"Things are looking up!"
