Razorlight @ Fopp Reading - 15th June  '04
Reading fans of Razorlight were treated to a free acoustic gig by the Anglo-Swedish band at Fopp music store.
Singing songs from their debut album Up All Night, frontman Johnny Borrell showed what a true talent the band are.

Johnny Borrell has been portrayed as rather an arrogant young chap in certain music publications, but the man playing a live acoustic set in Reading's Fopp music store couldn't have been more pleasant.

In between songs Johnny spoke to the band's fans, who had turned up in droves and were spilling out of the shop.

"This is the first time I've been down to Reading, know anything good to do round here afterwards?"

"Head to London!" someone quipped, which Johnny repeated and laughed at.

He must've forgotten that he has been to Reading, when the band played the festival last year. They'll be playing the festival again this year, on Friday 27th August on the Radio 1 stage.

His set was magnificent, singing acoustic versions of normally rocky songs from upcoming debut album Up All Night.

He showed that this band are as good live as they are recorded, singing and playing guitar strongly and confidently.

He played solo owing to the cramped space in the shop not allowing for a full band to perform.

The three other band members, new drummer Andy Burrows, guitarist Bjorn Agren and bassist Carl Dalemo loitered around between the CD racks, and then joined Johnny to sing backing vocals to the band's new single Golden Touch, out now.
