"Through a smoky haze, their silhouettes outlined by piercing red spotlights Razorlight quietly take the stage. These guys look the part, with Johnny Borrell, lead singer, looking like Dave Grohl and the Rickenbacker playing bassist Carl Dalemo looking strikingly like Kurt Kobain.
With blade-like guitars and thumping bass lines they set off at a high tempo taking no prisoners. They look a little nervous and apprehensive with Borrell's eyes scanning The Roadhouse repeatedly. This time last year The Libertines were playing down here and you can't help but notice the similarities, they have the same confidence and self-assurance; however, the songs seem to have more intricacy and depth to them. With songs like 'Rip It Up' and current single 'Rock 'n' Roll Lies' taking you back to early Clash stuff, yet still appearing to make a statement about today's society. Although they claim to not want to be mainstream, they certainly have something about them and you get the feeling they have a very focused path to follow. Let's hope these guys don't get swept along by the media hype and they instead let the music do the talking."
