Razorlight @ Nottingham Social - 11th August '03 | |||||
"Apart from Japan of course, tonight is the first time Razorlight have played outside of London. The Nottingham Social unsurprisingly quickly packs out. After all, it’s not often the support act is better than the headliner. A smattering of devoted fans have driven up from London to sing along to their remarkable catchy soulful tunes. With their fantastic lyrics so emotionally sung, it’s hard to believe not many people have heard this band. The single ‘Rock n Roll Lies’ goes down well as Johnny ducks and dives like he’s just picked a fight with the mic stand. Bjorn is happily smiling away to himself while Carl sensually strokes his bass, raising his eyebrows like an orgasmic squirrel. Johnny looses himself in the lyrics of ‘To The Sea’ and tonight sees the tempo of ‘Bright Lights’ increased. Christian furiously bashes his drums during the stop start pop punk set closer ‘In the city’. Fantastic. And with drinks priced at a mere £1.50 who knows what The Hiss sounded like! Although this wasn’t the best we’ve seen Razorlight, traveling hundreds of miles was well worth it." Lisa Brand - Duckie Music |
