"Razorlight lead singer Johnny Borrell wears a t-shirt embroidered with the venomous legend 'I hate the new rock revolution' presumably as a disclaimer for the nu-garage tag which will inevitably be attached to them. You can see why, there is a certain something which separates this band from the hordes of hopefuls grasping at the coat tails of The Strokes, and I really mean that.
I'm not sure what it is, if I were to list their influences I'd include all the usual reference points. It must be their performance which blows me away.
Razorlight announce their presence with crashing drumroll. Said drummer is shirtless and bears a crazed expression on his face for the duration of the set. He plays the bongos with sticks, adding a tribal element.
The quality of song writing is higher than most CBGB wannabes too, with lyrics centered around London life more than New York. Delivered with charisma.
Razorlight have such a strong vibe, they are bursting with exuberance and wasted on a support slot.
