I am a descendant of Stephen Bachiler who emigrated from England to America away back when. I trace back to Nathaniel Batchelder, who married Mary Wadleigh. Nathaniel was born Feb 12, 1792 in Danville, Vt, and died in Stanstead Quebec Aug 24, 1865. They, and their children were documented in Pierce's old 1800's book about Bachelder genealogy that you will have no doubt seen reference to in many family trees.
Nathaniel and Mary's daughter married Daniel Colby. Who Daniel was, and where he came from I still (after 15 years) have not found out. Nathaniel and Mary were born and married in Vermont but moved to the Eastern Townships of Quebec (if you are not from Canada, that means those parts of Quebec just North of Vermont and New Hampshire that were predominantly English). Daniel and Laura Colby's son George Batchelder Colby married first Elizabeth Hurd, and then after her death, Lucill Blanche Libby. George was a policeman on the beat on the Boston waterfront, until he had to retire because of diabetes.
George and Lucilla had one child, my Grandmother Ada May Colby.
I have more information, but I started a long time ago before genealogical software was effective or affordable. So, all of my information is in the venerable Wordperfect 5.1, which survided Year 2000. I have so much information, that I don't have the time or energy to convert, even though at a time like this I should have. Let me know what you want, and I will be glad to pass it on. Where do you fit into the Bachelder family tree? Where do you live?

My Nathaniel was the uncle of Jethro bachelder in your Diary of Jethro Bachelder. Converting my WP 5.1 files won't help too much, because of the way I linked them together. Give me a bit of time, and I'll fire it off to you. I live in Kanata, on the outskirts of Canada's capitol, Ottawa. I am 53, and have two daughters. I am very lucky in that I work in downtown Ottawa, a stones throw from the Archives. When work permits, I go in there to surf the census and church and land records, etc.
