on a frozen lake atop the hill
I have been to trips which were decided instantly but not to trips across the border. I did that in Sweden in the Dec on 2004. Winter in scandinavia can be depressing...theres light only for a few hours in the day and u feel sick not seeing the sun for weeks..
The weather did bug we people too...
It was around Christmas time, it so happened that i got a call from Rohit asking "bey OSLO chal na hai??" ('wanna go to oslo??' translated to english).

(For those poor in geography lemme give some quick info. OSLO is the capital of NORWAY the neighouring country to SWEDEN which is about 8 hours from where I stay in sweden.. )
The call i got from rohit was at 8 in the night and we were supposed to take the 12'o clock bus, and we didnt even know what was the price for the journey and whether we would get a seat on the bus, let alone knowing what to see in oslo.
So we got ready with our backpacks, passports and lots of chips, coke and other junk,

If deciding on the trip was a kinda adventure, roaming around in oslo was altogether a different experience, and that too with bandar (shashi) in the gang it was ultimate fun. We took a day's pass and this gave us the licence to roam around anywhere & everywhere in oslo and in whatever transport we chose to. We took up a map of the city and hopped into busses, trams, trains, metros whichever we found first, no matter where it was heading to. This was probably the best part of the trip. Later we kinda streamlined and decided to see some things around  and managed to cover Holmenkollen which was the place where the winter olympics was held in 1995 (i guess its around sometime) and other places which looked interesting. We had almost covered all that could be seen leaving the boring museums....and since it was winter it started getting colder and again we took advantage of the day's pass and aimlessly travelled in trains and trams to avoid the cold untill our bus back to sweden was ready for departure looking forward for the Christmas party scheduled for the next day.
