Laura's Bench

			In May 2002, a park bench was installed on the Buttermilk Trail at Bridgeport.  The bench is located about a half mile upstream from the north parking lot.  The bench overlooks the South Yuba River and is in memory of Laura Wilcox, who loved the river. Club live of Ready Springs School raised money for the bench by serving at the 2002 United Way banquet at Miners Foundry and by conducting basketball hoop contests at the school.  Club Live members also helped install the bench with the assistance of state park personnel. Laura was tragically slain in Nevada City on Jan. 10, 2001.  She was a former student at Ready Springs School and a Club Live member.
