Poetry of the DarkChild
Spoken Word
"Lost Child"
Tired--half benumbed
as she walks against the rays of the sun...
stricken down by anguish
poverty and heartache...
defeated by the prison of her skin...
a little girl
who once had a dream to be more than
what she has fallen to become...
reflecting a mirage of pain...
she is the lost child...
descended from grace...
searching for a way below the horizon
Once beautiful...
to those that knew her...
echoing the scent of purity...
only to gaze upon her now to see the
ancient map of pain
lost in her dark eyes...
Abused lines across her face...
etched with her charcoal skin...
she has struggled to hard to turn
back...
seen too much to forget...
the emptiness sleeping within her
soul resting upon her thorn-scarred
memories and withered dreams she
carries on her back...
poisoned flower..
bloomed so long ago...
looking towards the sky...
this holy star
taught to her as a child...
condemned by thy enemy
image same as hers...
she steps over and through a fire
heated land with nothing to give
and everything she'd lost...
Holy Star...
here I stand
with burnt flesh
longing to cut these roots from
my ankles...
give me strenght at last to
regurgitate the seeds of my past

"Ebony"

The needs are Necessary
In the whole of the Honorary
Strength of the Dignitary
Soul deeper than the Ordinary

Defeater of the Adversary
Wiser than the Visionary
Opposite of the Contemporary
Love is of the Legendary

Not to be Wary
For support is the Itinerary
Truth becomes the Commentary
Revealing the Solemnity
of the Black Ebony

"Liberation"

Once unable to look in our face
manipulated our thoughts and destroyed or faith
though at the time you labeled us your slave
our spirit initiated our hearts to conjugate...
Despite the desecration of our women
the slaying our men...
despite the constant pain and torment
our strength and wisdom grew as evident...
Trying to take what you didn't create
trying to lead our minds astray...
all because you were afraid
of our dignified human traits...
Your ignorance fed our unity
courage brought us to our destiny...
so it be written; so it came to be
we are Loved...Honored...Respected...and Free
