I Made it On My Own
I made it on my own!
By Carl W. Hurd
I attended a youth rally the other day and it was very interesting listening to seven different speakers trying to motivate the few young people who were in the audience. Out of the seven, only two mention others who encouraged and guided them on the way in becoming successful. I was very touched by their acknowledgment of other people who helped them along their life journey.
I am not sure if it was an oversight of the other speakers in not mentioning those who help them along their way, I feel that any one who has become successful should always acknowledge those who help them along the way.
I enjoy communicating and participating on the message boards, despite the differences of opinions in finding the right solution for the direction of our people, I would like to take time out in thanking everyone who read what I post and the feedback that is received. I know without you I would be like a tree that falls in the forest it makes a sound, but do anyone hear it fall? I believe that we are on the right track by putting up with each other and taking time out in acknowledging each other even if it is not on a daily basis.
The point I hope to make is, no matter what position you hold in life especially if you have reached a measure of success, don't forget that you did not make it totally on your own.
Someone along your life journey helped you in some kind of way, for things to turn in your favor, weather it was a relative, teacher, stranger and sometimes a white person. But most of all let's not forget that many of our ancestors died and sacrifice their lives and sometimes happiness for us to be able to communicate with each other here today. Just think not long ago we did not have this tool to voice our concerns fears and hopes. Let's continue to keep this up, until one day we may be able to find that one key that will move us all forward as a people. Let's not forget to teach our younger people that through it all they will not really make it if it wasn't for someone who helped encouraged, or guided them, also that there were many in Our-Story who paved the way for all of us to have a measure of success.
