Elio Fiorucci's biography
In 1975 he opened his first store in london, in the wake of hippy fashion he imported ethnic clothing, and camouflage become his leit-motiv. In the same year he also opened a store in new york designed by Ettore Sottass and Andrea Branzi where Andy Warhol launched his magazine "Interview".
In 1977 Studio 54, the New York discotheque, opened and Fiorucci organized the opening. Fiorucci products are put on the back burner, and he presents the monokini, nudity becomes a standard of freedom. Other Fiorucci stores open, designed by Sottass and Andrea Mendini.
Since 1980 Elio Fiorucci has also dedicated himself to communication: with rizzoli usa he produced the film "New York Beat", the then-unknown protagonist is Jean Michel Basquiat, with Blondie and Kid Creole (this was re-presented at the Cannes 2000 festival entitled "Downtown 81")
