Rudy was my mom's (Melanie) very best friend! Rudy was quite the character! He always wore either army fitigues or over-alls and had long red hair and a long red beard. He was a very little man, standing about 5 feet 4 inches tall and couldn't have weighed more than 100 pounds but he had a heart, and a mouth, twice his size! He was so loud and obnoxious! But not in a bad way, he was hilarious! Rudy was extremely funny and fun to be around! Some of his favorite sayings were 'Throw that in the garbage', 'That's Brudel!' and 'That's Shot!'. He called my mom 'Hollywood' because it took him a long time to remeber her name and he said she 'looked like a movie star'. He called my little sister, Jessica, 'Bugsy' because she was terrified of bugs. My mom and Rudy were pretty much inseperatable! Rudy came over to our house every day, which made our house pretty fun! They even had matching leather biker jackets that they had their picture taken in! They were quite the pair! My favorite memory of Rudy is him teaching me how to drive. I was terrible and he was scared! He sat in the passenger seat clenching onto the dashboard and screaming! He said that he'd never let me drive again, but he did, just as long as he wasn't in the car! Rudy started getting very sick. My mom made him go to the hospital when she realized that it was very serious. The doctors told Rudy that he had cancer. Rudy's poor little body was completely infected and it was too late to do anything. Rudy died within 2 weeks. Rudy was cremated and his wife chose not to have a funeral service for him. We didn't get to say good-bye! We miss your crazy spirit, Rudy! 'Hollywood' just hasn't been the same since you've been gone! |
