Silence Can Be Deadly | ||||||
Yugo and Kenji walked away from the building hand in hand, the brothers were re-united once more. They were both very tired, and glad to have escaped the ordeal alive, although the younger wasn't sure. After being turned into an assassin again the young man questioned himself. He questioned his strength, his intelligence, and even his reasons to live. He hugged his brother's arm to him tightly. If it weren't for him, he would have perished in the flaming building. Does an assassin like me really deserve to live? he wondered. I was so weak-minded, it was easy for them to brainwash me. Maybe it would be better if I were destroyed. Yugo pulled his arm from Kenji's grasp and then moved it over to pat his back. "Kenji, is something still bothering you?" "..." "Kenij?" "I..." "Come on Kenji! You don't have to let what happened bother you. It's not your fault, remember? It's all that limp-wristed bastard's fault! And you took care of him, didn't you?" "Yes, but..." "Forget about it! Now it's all over and we can get right back to the way things were before it ever happened." "But Yugo..." "What?" "But I... beat you up." he said sadly. "I almost killed you!" "Aw, Kenji..." Yugo stooped down to give him a hug. "Don't worry about that! I know you never really would do anything to hurt me!" "T-thanks Yugo." Kenji returned the embrace, burying himself in the warmth of his brother's chest. He was so touched, he almost wanted to cry. If Yugo can forgive me for hurting him, then I guess I should try to forgive myself, and keep living. They stood there for a minute before Yugo let go, took Kenji's hand and lead him towards home. "Yugo... I could be wrong, but... this place doesn't look like Japan. Where are we?" "Silly Kenji, I bet you didn't even realize where you were untill now, huh? We're in the United States! Somewhere in California, matter of fact. I got us a nice little motel room with two beds, a little fridgerator, and cable TV!" "Oh, that sounds nice." "Well, I couldn't afford any of the really fancy ones... by the way, we're a little low on cash right now. I stopped boxing for a week so I could find you, and now I'm not even sure if I've got enough money for the trip back." Kenji looked worried. "It's okay though! There are boxing matches here too! I've got one lined up for the day after tomorrow, you wanna come watch?" "Uh, if you want me to." "Of course I do! It'll be..." "Yugo! There you are!" A high-pitched female voice yelled from across the street. Yugo and Kenji looked over to see the familiar face of Alice, still dressed in her pink nurse outfit with blue ponytails. Two other women stood next to her, one tall, muscular woman who looked to be middle-aged, and a girl who looked to be about Kenji's age. They both had brown hair and eyes, and wore blue and white, the girl had a braid running down her back. "Uh-oh. It's Alice!" Yugo cried, breaking into a run and pulling his brother with him. "Run Kenji!" "Hey, Yugo! Let go! What are we running from!?!" Kenji complained. "Oh no you don't!" Alice cried, chasing after them. She soon caught up to the worn-out and encumbered boxer. The she grabbed him by the arm, and dragged him over to a nearby bench. "What did I tell you, mister? I'm the kind of nurse that finishes her job! Now sit down and let me put a bandage over this cut!" Yugo reluctantly sat down on the bench, tired of all the running, and she grabbed his arm and started wrapping it tightly in bandages. "Ouch! Stop!" he whined. "Besides, I don't need any bandages." "You're hurt so keep quiet and do what I say!" she demanded. "Now let me see that cut over there." "C'mon, give me a break!" Meanwhile Uriko and her mother walked over to survey the scene, the latter sure she had seen the young man somewhere before. "Hey, I know! You're that mole assassin who attacked Master Long!" she got into her battle pose, ready to strike. "No!" Yugo cried, struggling to free himself from Alice's bandages. "Kenji is my brother! He won't do you any harm, honest! He was just brainwashed by those bastards in the ZLF!" "Is that true?" Uriko asked Kenji. "..." "Hey, I asked you a question." "Uh, he's not very talkative." Yugo explained. "Alice! Lemme go, damnit!" "I don't think so!" she growled, punching him in the head. "Oops, that made a nice little bump, guess we'll have to bandage that too!" "Nooo! Somebody help!" the boxer cried. "Seems like my sister has a crush on your brother." Uriko assumed, giggling. "So, how come you don't talk much?" "..." "Don't you like to talk?" "..." "Do you even know how to talk?" "..." "Well, you're awfully cute for a boy who doesn't talk." "........" "Ahem!" their mother coughed sharply. Alice turned from her work and Uriko also paid attention to her mother. "And how did you meet this young man?" "I knew him back when we attacked Tylon." Alice explained. "This is Yugo Ohgami, don't you remember him?" "Oh, that boy..." she remembered, eyeing him curiously, as if considering whether he was good enough for her daughter or not. Yugo cringed under her gaze. "Come on girls, it's time to go home." "But Mooooom!" Uriko whined. "No buts! We may not be able to get a plane back tonight, but we'll certainly need to find somewhere to stay untill we find the next flight out of here." Alice sighed, got up from the bench and followed her adopted mother, but Uriko dared to ignore her for a minute. "What's your name?" she asked the young man. "..." "His name is Kenji." Yugo said. "That's the name I gave him. Not a bad name, huh?" "Kenji? I think that sounds cute! Can I have your phone number Kenji?" "..." Kenji remained silent as Yugo got up from the bench and walked over to the two. "Come on Kenji!" Yugo whispered in his ear. "She's not a bad looking girl. Don't you like her?" "I... uh..." "Here's the phone number of the room we'll be staying in." Yugo said, taking out a piece of paper and writting down the number and Kenji's name. "I'm sure he'd be happy to hear from you. Oh, and if someone answers the phone and you don't hear anything, then you've probably got him." "Uh, thanks." she said, accepting the bit of paper. "Uriko! Get your butt over here!" her mother called. "Coming mother!" she replied, darting away. "See you later, Kenji!" she called back, waving to him. |
