I open my heart Make a place for you inside Warm, safe, protected You can curl up and I'll keep you I feel a pounding in my chest It's growing more pronounced But you seem so very fragile Will its beating crush you? I am cautious of the words That swim through my mind If I say them aloud Will we find ourselves hurt? I crave your gentle caresses Gliding fingers on my skin And your soft lips as they press firmly against mine While our bodies entwine And I realize all I want Is to hold onto you so tight And feel the rhythm of your breathing As we drift off to sleep So I admit I'm in love with you And I give you my heart I hold out my unsteady hands To gently accept yours Alexis Souder 12/09/03 |
