This is what you get for being a good husband for 20 years:
(The plane. Not the girl, stupid.)
A Filip 600 Sport
Powered by an AXI 2820/10 with a 8x2200 Panasonic battery pack, and 12x6 Graupner CAM folding prop.
At the moment I'm still in the drooling stage. I may start with some small things tomorrow (servo openings, soldering servo extension wiring etc).
The real work will start after next week.
Maiden went beautifully! Some minor problems came up before first take-off: first I had too much slop in the v-tail pushrods.
No problem. I had some spare EPP foam in my field box, so I cut of a piece and shaped it round. Then I pushed it from the front
into the tail, and presto! Slop gone.
One short flight. Went fine, but we found that the v-tail throws needed increasing. I did not want to
increase the servo travel distance for fear of binding, so the pushrods where attached one hole higher in the control horns.
Second flight was...WOW.
1st August 2004.
I've flown the Filip now several times (usually with 15Mph+ winds) and she flies great! I am now getting more comfortable flying her,
and have started some mild aerobatics, and semi high speed passes.
My friend Patrick Plawner (http://plawner.net) was kind enough to bring out his video camera last Wednesday 28th July 2004. Here's the result:
Enjoy! I know I did...
