| It is a Sunday afternoon, ASHLEY and SAM have just seen a preview of the movie “Blurred.” SAM: They shouldn’t lock up Hannibal Lector. He’s a nice guy. He only eats bad people. SAM squeals at a very high pitch SAM: Steven Rooke is hot. ASHLEY: Yeah, I think so too. SAM: I wanna jump him. ASHLEY: I think I’ll invite him to my formal. SAM: You didn’t tell me you knew him. ASHLEY: I don’t. Not yet… A few days later, on a Thursday afternoon, ASHLEY is skipping school and with her MUM “shopping” at Broadway. They are now in the food court. ASHLEY: (quietly to herself) Where is Steven Rooke? MUM: What was that Ash? ASHLEY: Oh, I just said, “Where is the friggin’ book?” MUM: It’s right there. ASHLEY: Oh thanks Mum. STEVEN ROOKE walks pass in the food court. ASHLEY: There he is! “After a while” ASHLEY walks over to STEVEN ROOKE. ASHLEY: Hi! STEVEN ROOKE: Hi! I’m Steven [Rooke]. They shake hands. ASHLEY thinks to herself, “Geez, he doesn’t have to tell me his name. This guy mustn’t get recognized a lot.” ASHLEY: I’m Ashley. Can I have a photo with you? STEVEN ROOKE: (slightly trembling) Ah, yes, of course. ASHLEY asks her mum to take a photo of them ASHLEY: Thanks for the photo! STEVEN ROOKE: No, thank-you! Bye! ASHLEY: Bye! Maybe I’ll “run into you” some time again. They part. STEVEN ROOKE: No one’s ever asked me to take a photo with them before… A week later, on the last day of school. ASHLEY, ANTONIA, KATE, SAMANTHA and SEFATH have just seen the movie "Austin Powers III" at Sydney’s Fox Studios. |
