Yes, Only RM180 for BOTH Days! (Sept. 28)

We've been flooded with phone-calls and e-mails by people anxious to find out if the RM180 (around US$48) ticket really covers all the shows on both days (Oct. 20 & 21).

The answer is a resounding YES! Just ONE ticket for ALL the performances on BOTH days! Sounds like the deal of a lifetime, doesn't it? Especially when you consider that just one normal show by any international act here can cost around RM180 these days!

Still can't believe it? Then check out our FAQ section, or if you're just in a hurry to order up the tickets before they sell out, click here.

World Stage Cancelled But It's Still Gonna Be a BIG, BIG Show! (Sept. 28)

For safety reasons, we've had to do away with the World Stage we had planned at the outdoor pool of the Bukit Jalil National Stadium Complex. Apparently, the area around the pool won't be able to support the stage and all the heavy equipment.

But the other three stages won't be affected. In fact, work on them has already begun and they should be adequate to accommodate all the artists for RentakAsia.

So, even without the World Stage, RentakAsia promises to be a BIG, BIG show!

Toto's Bobby Kimball and Band to Play As Well (Sept. 15)

Yes, Toto singer Bobby Kimball is also set to rock out at RentakAsia. He will be here with his own band to thrill you with the hits -- "Hold the Line", "Rosanna", "I Won't Hold You Back" etc.

Jethro Tull & Sugar Ray are Coming to KL! (Sept. 8)

CAN'T believe it, huh? Yes, the legendary British progressive-rock band, noted for such classic albums as 'Aqualung' (1971), 'Living in the Past' (1972), 'Minstrel in the Gallery' (1975), 'Too Old to Rock 'n' Roll' (1976) and 'Songs from the Wood' (1977), will be one of the major attractions at RentakAsia.

Besides leader Ian Anderson, the flute master and vocalist who's still the band's main motivating force, the current line-up of Jethro Tull includes guitarist Martin Barre, drummer Doane Perry, keyboardist Andrew Giddings and bassist Jonathan Noyce.

You can expect plenty of old hits like "Teacher", "Life is a Long Song", "Bungle in the Jungle", "The Witch's Promise" and "Living in the Past".

Also confirmed for a spot is SoCal funk/rap-rock band Sugar Ray, fronted by singer Mark McGrath and featuring guitarist Rodney Sheppard, bassist Murphy Karges, DJ Craig Bullock and drummer Stan Frazier.

The band's three albums, 'Floored', 'Lemonade and Brownies' and '14:59', feature tracks that explore everything from hip-hop to reggae and rock.

Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, Eric Johnson Confirmed (Sept. 4)

YES, the three rock guitar icons have confirmed that they'll be playing individually and together (as G3) at RentakAsia with a universal support band comprising bassist Stu Hamm, multi-instrumentalistMike Keneally and drummer Jeff Campitelli. You can expect Satriani to do most of his popular piledrivers as well as feature tracks from his latest album, 'Engines of Creation'.

As for Vai, don't forget that this is a guy who cut his teeth handling the "impossible" guitar parts in Frank Zappa's tightly-drilled band. So, expect nothing less than a jaw-dropping shredfest.

Vai has a string of solo recordings, the most notable of which are 1993's 'Sex & Religion', 1995's 'Alien Love Secrets' and 1999's 'The Ultra Zone'.

And last but not least, there's Johnson, who emerged as a formidable soloist in the late '80s after years of woodshedding on the bustling Austin (Texas) music scene. A fastidious perfectionist with a fluid, flawless style, Johnson takes a meticulous approach to composition and recording. His solo albums include 1990's 'Ah Via Musicom' and 1996's 'Venus Isle', which feature him on vocals as well.

So get ready for a true feast of fast, furious, soaring, scorching electric guitar!

More: Big Country, Eric Sardinas, Derek Trucks, All-4-0ne (Sept. 4)

Yes, four more international acts are a sure bet at RentakAsia. Scottish band Big Country, best known for the 1983 hit "In the Big Country", will offer plenty of folk-flavored rock.

Then there's Eric Sardinas, (right) a Texas/Delta blues slide guitarist based in the Los Angeles, California area.

Derek Trucks (group photo above) -- his uncle, drummer Butch Trucks, is a founding member of the Allman Brothers Band -- is another guitar prodigy who's doing much to keep the fire of blues-rock burning bright.

And if you're into smooth pop, you should be thrilled to see All-4-One, best known for the 1994 hit "I Swear", do their thang!

Ramli Sarip & Amy Also In (Sept. 4)

Singapore rock icon Ramli Sarip will lead the Rentak All-Star Band comprising guitarists Man Kidal, Hillary and Yantono (Indonesia), drummer Yazid, bassists Andy Peterson and Jay Jay, keyboardist Iwang (Indonesia), percussionists Ramli Reban and Steve Thornton, flutist Mohar and guest vocalists Amy, Jamal and Mohd Albar (Indonesia).

Amy (of Search) will be backed by guitarists Hillary and Adre, bassist Kelly, drummer Sotong and programmer Bat.

Other Confirmed Local Acts

The list so far includes FTG, Kristal, Black Maria, Loh, Y2K, Motherland and Indra.
