August 6 -TwentyOneRest, Lennon, and Ladwig- |

This was the funniest day ever.. Well one of them. You see, my friend Bob, who is a total geek and will admit willingly to this statement, drove Danni and I down to PB to see TwentyOneRest. To start things off, on the way down there this Latino guy mooned us on the freeway, and then when we caught up to him later due to the natural flow of traffic he was all embarrassed. So, anyway. We were driving down there and stopped at Miguel's, this Mexican restaurant down by Humphrey's, to get something to eat. But, before all of this we kept on getting lost. You see, I said to get off on Garnet, and that's the street you're supposed to get off on, but Bob never listens to me, so we ended up way on the south end of Mission Bay before he decided to listen to me. It was hilariously ridiculous. But, we finally made it to both Miguel's and then Cane's later, while somehow managing to pass both Hooters.. Funny that we passed by both. On the way to both places however, we managed to tell everyone on the streets, in their cars, in the restaurant, on the beach, everywhere, to go see TwentyOneRest at Cane's that night. Quite a few of the people Danni and I told we actually saw later that night in Cane's. It was great. But, on our way there, Danni bought this rose for Nick due to this whole thing about how she was going to get him one, and so we had to pull this phat u-turn to go and get it at some little flower shop, but we got it. She wrapped it up all pretty and it was probably the strangest thing ever. I had to practically beg Nick to go the week prior, and I had asked Evan to go, but I didn't really think that either would show up, so at the time that we bought the rose for Nick it seemed humerously pointless. We finally made it to Cane's and we were earlier, not surprisingly, because I have this thing about being early to venue's and what not. It's a personal thing. So, Danni and I were sitting on the sea wall and then we were perched atop this funny little rock outside of Cane's and watching people show up. We ended up getting bored of that so we headed down to play some video games and somehow before that Danni ended up meeting this guy Reno. Reno was this random 22 year old guy who ended up totally hitting it off with Danni. Long story. Ask her, not me. Anyway, but we went down to play video games and he was playing this game where you shoot deer and wild turkey's. If you've never seen it before, it's honestly the most hilarious thing you've seen in your entire life. Time passed, Bob didn't want to be there, Danni didn't want to go inside, and I saw some friends of ours from school. Well, I went in, and met the coolest security guard ever, his name was either Erik or Eric, but I'm going to call him Eri(c/k) because I don't know if it was a 'c' or a 'k'. Anyway, he let us all in and Jaded was supposed to play that night, but didn't show up, so TwentyOneRest ended up being the first band on. It was a great show, the first time that I heard the new songs, the ones that aren't recorded yet, and everyone just looked really good. I said 'hi' to Brant before the show started but he blew me off, not surprising, he does that most of the time I say hi to him. LoL. But, anyway, the show itself was awesome. TwentyOneRest opened with 'Straight Circle', and I was completely ecstatic. I love that song. They played 'First Summer' but didn't want to, I don't blame them considering it's been overplayed, but it was still awesome. They ended up playing 'Moon-Calf Friend', but it wasn't too hott considering Aaron couldn't hit the high notes. So sad. The new stuff was good, but honestly, when I heard it at first I didn't like it in the least. After they finished, I went to get one of the split CD's from Schmitt, and after listening to it all, the new stuff from RxDrama and TwentyOneRest, it's so good. Especially, RxDrama.. I'm biased I suppose. I went up to Sean and asked him to sign a CD for Lori, considering she wasn't there and it was her birthday, and he said sure. Oh, that's where that rose comes back in. Danni didn't come inside to see TwentyOneRest because she was too nervous to talk to Nick or something like that so as opposed she stayed outside and talked to Reno. Nick did end up showing up and he was wearing a white shirt and khaki pants, he looked like a painter. I said 'hi' to Nick, and he blew me off too, but he deny's it to this day, he says that too many people were talking to him at once. Evan actually showed up too.. but that's another story all in itself. He forgot my spiral though, not surprising.. Still has it too. But, like I was saying, Danni didn't give the rose to Nick. So, I gave the rose to Sean and said it was from Lori. We called her from Cane's and she didn't mind. So, Sean was all happy and signed a CD for Lori. So, that was good. I attempted at talking to Aaron but he was in this huge rush to get off the stage, so we didn't really have much of a conversation. Weston and I didn't know each other at the time, and in all honestly I presumed him a snob, but he really isn't at all. He was so hott that night though, in all honesty. Check out this picture. Anyway, TwentyOneRest went to drink, Evan left, I don't know where Nick, Kevin, and Schmitt ran off to, and Danni finally came inside with Reno. The three of us sat on the back patio of Cane's and watched Ladwig, terrible band. You see, they were this dyke punker band, and it was just nasty. I have no problem with dykes, fuck who you want, and I have no problem with punkers at all, but when you sing about your vagina on stage, that's just plain nasty. Thus, my dislike of Ladwig. But, Danni, Reno and I sat on the back porch and talked to the security guard who wanted to get one of those old style cane's that you see in old movies and Looney Toones cartoons and yank Ladwig off the stage and throw them over the sea wall. But it didn't happen. So sad. Danni and I wanted to leave shortly thereafter that, but Reno talked us into staying, telling us that Lennon was going to be the show of the night. We were skeptical at first but decided to stay. There were maybe twenty people left in Cane's by then, I guess no one had really heard of Lennon. Either way we stayed, and we were so glad that we did. Lennon Murphy is honestly the hottest, most talented, truly compelling artist in the world. She has so much emotion, a truly erotic stage presence, and she is a total cock tease to any guy, she's just that hott. But, she seriously has a wonderful voice, a true gift to sound, strong emotonal lyrics, and the music won't let you walk away. It's just that good. Check her out, you'll be glad you did. Yea, so we stayed and watched Lennon. That was so awesome. I bought the CD the day it came out, and it's still so good. Danni and I left after that, and Danni got Reno's number. There's more to that story, but talk to Danni. It's not my story to tell really. As we were leaving San Diego though, Bob got us lost, not surprising. Naturally, he didn't listen to me when I said to take Ingrahm.. he decided to take Mission Bay.. Genius I must say. But, we obviously made it home. |
