- TwentyOneRest and Rxdrama -
Poway Music Trader
This show was almost funny. Lori and I were online one night and were talking to the band, and Nick told me that RxDrama was going to be performing that night in Poway at the Music Trader at 6:45pm. Well, Lori and I decided that we really wanted to go, so we begged and pleaded and our overlords decided that we could attend. So, we got to driving out there, and that was hilarious all in itself, because Lori's mom drove us, and she kept on talking and talking and Lori and I were never really listening. So, after and hour or so we ended up in Poway, at the Music Trader. (No thanks to Nick's direction, they were good up until the very last line as to where Music Trader was specifically.. LoL.)

It was 6pm or so and Lori's mom decided she was going to leave us there and we were to call her later and tell her when the concert was over, but for the most part she was planning on coming back at around 9:30pm. So, Lori and I headed into Music Trader, and were rummaging around. We found a lot of interesting CD's, and started noticing the band show up. I recognized Nick and Evan, but I never said anything to either of them, they were always around their friends and I didn't really know them all that well anyway. So, no words were passed.

6:45pm rolls around, then 7pm, and no band. 7:15pm shows up and TwentyOneRest arrives. They start setting up, and I knew that they were going to be there, but I didn't know them, so I was confused. Lori and I took up a place against the right side of the building just in front of one of the speakers, where Sean was ultimately playing bass. Aaron comes up to the mic and announces that he's Aaron from TwentyOneRest and that RxDrama wasn't going to be performing due to the fact that there drummer had a broken collarbone from a snowboarding accident. I say that he snowboarded into a tree, but the band says that he was pulling tricks in a half-pipe and ate shit. Both versions are funny, but I like the tree.

So, TwentyOneRest starts up and Nick and the members of RxDrama were standing in the front middle section of the building, except for Evan. Evan decided to precariously place himself behind Sean, behind the speakers. You know, are they speakers or do you call them amps, or are they a stack.. I've always been confused by that. Whatever. Anyway, and Evan was standing there in the dark, messing with the PA system and what not, but he kept on giving wierd looks, but that's mostly just him. I say he was high though.

Second or third song into the set, Lori and I were amazed. This band was as good if not better than RxDrama. They presented that same feeling, the same emotion. It wasn't just melodic harmoies with some guy strumming a bass tune and another playing a few guitar chords while some guy beat on a drum in the back. This was something special. Overal, there live performance wasn't super, or amazingly special in anyway, but it was good enough for me to go out and buy the CD the next day. I would've gotten it that night, but I had no money.

Lori and I picked up the TwentyOneRest poster, and Lori got an RxDrama CD, I already had one. I never did get one in the pretty little sleeve though. She did. Bitch. LoL. I ened up slowly getting involved with both bands from them on. That was the beginning. Their live show wasn't great, but the CD made it completely worth it. It was phenominal. The seven track LP, 20/20, was honestly one of few CD's that the first time I listened to it I liked it. RxDrama had that same influence, but other than those two bands, no one ever really has. It was that good. And, to this day, they are still that good.

It was all thanks to Bill Schacht to even hear about the bands. If it weren't for him, none of this would've been possible, and none of this would've happened. My thanks is forever professed to him. With love, always. :)
