Formed in the mid-80's around the eccentric Roy Feldon (who had previously spent a few months in Canadian band Moving Targetz), they mixed danceable rhythyms with fuzzy, distorted guitars, and topped it off with haunting cello melodies. Demo tapes were sent to numerous record companies, and eventually Mute Records signed them up for three singles. 'Bamp Bamp', 'Don't It Make You Feel' and 'Happy Birthday' displayed a more melodic yet similar approach to artists like Jesus & Mary Chain with desperate vocals and buzzing guitars, and they were also compared to a rockier Public Image Ltd by some critics. They went on tour supporting The Cult, and began work on a debut album, but Feldons eccentricity came to the fore, with his procrastination causing the album to go heavily over budget. This caused a rift between band and label, and they left with an unfinished album on which they owed considerable debts. Geoff Travis believed in them and signed them to his Blanco Y Negro label, which eventually released their only proper album, a flawed version of the previously unfinished project. Following this, Feldon relinquished the services of his fellow band members and the band were no more. The original three singles were compiled on a mini-album Bambi Slam 'Is', showing the early promise that had taken them to the top of the Indie charts.
