Their sound was a derivative of the Phil Spector created girl group with a little doo-wop and just a hint of R&B that was enough to distinguish them from other 'girl groups' of the time. Despite this, they only managed one other major hit in 1966 with 'Sweet Talkin' Guy'.
Some degree of notoriety was achieved in the early '70's, when George Harrison released 'My Sweet Lord' and scored a million selling number one single. The publishers of 'He's So Fine' sued the ex-Beatle for the marked similarity between the melodies of the two songs, and Harrison was found guilty of plagiarism and substantially fined.
The Chiffons were not necessarily any better off for this, though, and had by now been relegated to the level of an 'oldies' cabaret act. Ironically they recorded their own version of 'My Sweet Lord', but most 'new' releases were simply re-recorded versions of their original hits released on budget 'nostalgia' labels for the CD market.
