THE MIGHTY LEMON DROPS
Featuring Paul Marsh (vocals/guitar), David Newton (guitar), Tony Linehan (bass) and Keith Rowley (drums), the Lemon Drops initially came to light in 1985 with independent single 'Like An Angel'.

It's members had done the rounds in numerous Wolverhampton bands (including a stint in Wild Flowers supporting Simple Minds on tour) before settling together in time to become part of the NME's 'C-86' scene, and were signed to Chrysalis Records almost immediately.

With charming, poppy, yet rock oriented guitars offering a sound similar to Echo & the Bunnymen, the band somehow failed to translate their independent success into UK chart hits.  Things were different in the US, where they were popular on the College circuit, and this was some small consolation to them when Chrysalis dropped them after their third album release.

Eventually, lack of UK interest broke the band, with a posthumous release 'All the Way - Live In Cincinatti' ironically showing that fans across the Atlantic had been more receptive to their well-crafted indie pop.

A comeback was staged in 2000, but this was a one-off special performance.
