Isaiah Chapter 2

By: Rich Puckett

The Future House of God

(Isa 2:1 KJV) The word that Isaiah the son of Amoz saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem.

Isa 2:1: "The word that Isaiah the son of Amoz saw" is referring to a vision of future events.

How great it would be if Gods people would get a vision for the future for their, church, home, community, a vision that shows where they are at and where they are going.

(Isa 2:2 KJV) And it shall come to pass in the last days, that the mountain of the Lord's house shall be established in the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow unto it.

Isa 2:2: "In the latter days" is an expression which often refers to the messianic times, that period which closes human history when the kingdom of God will be manifested and the Lord Himself will rule the nations, as well as the hearts and minds of men. "The mountain of the Lord's house" is a reference to Mount Zion not as a geographical location, but as the very center of God's government over the world. Zion at the end of days will be not merely the center of Israel's national worship, but the very fountain of the spiritual life of the nations.

In these last days, (Christ is soon to come again), the call is going out to come and be a part of God's house. And what is Gods house in the last days, you are and I am. And Jesus said we were to be

Mat 5:14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.

Jer 7:4 Trust ye not in lying words, saying, The temple of the LORD, The temple of the LORD, The temple of the LORD, are these.

Jer 7:5 For if ye thoroughly amend your ways and your doings; if ye thoroughly execute judgment between a man and his neighbour;

Jer 7:6 If ye oppress not the stranger, the fatherless, and the widow, and shed not innocent blood in this place, neither walk after other gods to your hurt:

Jer 7:7 Then will I cause you to dwell in this place, in the land that I gave to your fathers, for ever and ever.Jer 7:8 Behold, ye trust in lying words, that cannot profit.

Jer 7:9 Will ye steal, murder, and commit adultery, and swear falsely, and burn incense unto Baal, and walk after other gods whom ye know not;

Jer 7:10 And come and stand before me in this house, which is called by my name, and say, We are delivered to do all these abominations?

Jer 7:11 Is this house, which is called by my name, become a den of robbers in your eyes? Behold, even I have seen it, saith the LORD.

Mal 3:1 Behold, I will send my messenger, and he shall prepare the way before me: and the Lord, whom ye seek, shall suddenly come to his temple, even the messenger of the covenant, whom ye delight in: behold, he shall come, saith the LORD of hosts.

1 Cor 3:16 Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?

1 Cor 3:17 If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are.

(Isa 2:3 KJV) And many people shall go and say, Come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem.

Isa 2:3: The "law" here is not the ritual or ceremonial law, but God's design for righteousness.

Today we often here the call come to the revival, look at what is happening here and there. But real revival starts in the heart with the teaching of the word of God.

Hosea 4:6 My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.

Col 2:2 That their hearts might be comforted, being knit together in love, and unto all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the acknowledgment of the mystery of God, and of the Father, and of Christ;

Col 2:3 In whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.

James 3:13 Who is a wise man and endued with knowledge among you? let him show out of a good conversation his works with meekness of wisdom.

2 Pet 1:5 And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge;

2 Pet 1:6 And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness;

2 Pet 1:7 And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.

2 Pet 1:8 For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

What we need is to be taught, filled with his knowledge. And if we are serving the Lord folks will see it in the way we live and act.

(Isa 2:4 KJV) And he shall judge among the nations, and shall rebuke many people: and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more.

Isa 2:4: This verse describes the effects of God's rule manifested on earth.

The Day of the LORD

(Isa 2:5 KJV) O house of Jacob, come ye, and let us walk in the light of the LORD.

Let us walk in the Light of the Lord, if we love the light we will walk in the light. God's knowledge brings about the ability to live and walk in truth, which is to live in the light. We are taught to live a separate life from the world, to walk and talk differently.

(Isa 2:6 KJV) Therefore thou hast forsaken thy people the house of Jacob, because they be replenished from the east, and are soothsayers like the Philistines, and they please themselves in the children of strangers.

(Isa 2:7 KJV) Their land also is full of silver and gold, neither is there any end of their treasures; their land is also full of horses, neither is there any end of their chariots:

(Isa 2:8 KJV) Their land also is full of idols; they worship the work of their own hands, that which their own fingers have made:

(Isa 2:9 KJV) And the mean man boweth down, and the great man humbleth himself: therefore forgive them not.

(Isa 2:10 KJV) Enter into the rock, and hide thee in the dust, for fear of the LORD, and for the glory of his majesty.

(Isa 2:11 KJV) The lofty looks of man shall be humbled, and the haughtiness of men shall be bowed down, and the LORD alone shall be exalted in that day.

Again this sounds like the church of today. We build bigger and nicer buildings, we have our TV shows, we exalt ourselves and say look what we have done. We are more interested in how much money one gives then the giver. We build super powers with super armies and yet we have sickness and storms, what will it take to get us to run to the rock or our God.

(Isa 2:12 KJV) For the day of the LORD of hosts shall be upon every one that is proud and lofty, and upon every one that is lifted up; and he shall be brought low:

Isa 2:12: In these verses (vv. 12-22) the prophet portrays the terrors of "the day of the Lord." It is a day of universal judgment which will affect all mankind, all civilization, and all nature. The phrase "day of the Lord" is another title for the end times and does not mean that the events of this period will occur in one solar day.

A good place to read here would be Matt. 24: for it describes the last day much in the same way.

(Isa 2:13 KJV) And upon all the cedars of Lebanon, that are high and lifted up, and upon all the oaks of Bashan,

(Isa 2:14 KJV) And upon all the high mountains, and upon all the hills that are lifted up,

(Isa 2:15 KJV) And upon every high tower, and upon every fenced wall,

(Isa 2:16 KJV) And upon all the ships of Tarshish, and upon all pleasant pictures.

(Isa 2:17 KJV) And the loftiness of man shall be bowed down, and the haughtiness of men shall be made low: and the LORD alone shall be exalted in that day.

( Isa 2:18 KJV) And the idols he shall utterly abolish.

(Isa 2:19 KJV) And they shall go into the holes of the rocks, and into the caves of the earth, for fear of the LORD, and for the glory of his majesty, when he ariseth to shake terribly the earth.

(Isa 2:20 KJV) In that day a man shall cast his idols of silver, and his idols of gold, which they made each one for himself to worship, to the moles and to the bats;

(Isa 2:21 KJV) To go into the clefts of the rocks, and into the tops of the ragged rocks, for fear of the LORD, and for the glory of his majesty, when he ariseth to shake terribly the earth.

Isa 2:21: (vv. 21,22) When the Lord shall arise to terrify the earth, man's civilization and proud achievements will become dust. In view of this, the prophet appeals to the house of Jacob to give up any trust in man and his devices.

(Isa 2:22 KJV) Cease ye from man, whose breath is in his nostrils: for wherein is he to be accounted of?

Folks we must begin to heed the warning, we must turn to God and repent, For his anger is swift and will destroy. You may think there is plenty of time the house of Jacob thought they had plenty of time, most died, what was left went into slavery, and the great City failed because they would not repent. Come to the rock of our God and walk in the light of his word, be a chosen vessel of honor.
