The Closer I Walk With Jesus |
The closer I walk with Jesus,
The more aware I become,
Of all my flaws and imperfections:
The inevitable comparison.
My Jesus in His surpassing glory,
Has no blemish, wrinkle, or flaw.
All there be that approach Him,
Have to hold Him in awe.
You try to do what is right,
But you feel you've fallen short.
You feel disheartened, embarassed too,
But God has a good report:
Jesus is your righteousness,
He is your High Priest.
The Holy Spirit is your advocate,
To say the very least.
The closer you walk to Jesus,
The more you fall on your face.
He in turn bids you to stand,
But it's in His mercy and grace.
We could never stand in His assembly,
By works that we have done.
Our God has provided the lamb;
He sacrificed His only begotten Son.
It's according to His works of righteousness,
The shedding of his blood,
That we are cleansed of our transgressions
in His life-giving flood.
You see, You'll always feel that way,
like you have missed the mark,
But through Jesus, you'll approach the mercy seat
There in its' place upon the ark.
