Never have anyone unknown by you watch your bags.
Some Tips To Help Make Your Traveling Experience More Enjoyable.
Limit metal objects on your person.  This will help speed up the process at the Passenger Screening Checkpoints.  As of 11 September 2001, NO knives of any size, shape, or composition and no files of any kind.  Check with your airline if you have concerns about whether or not you can carry other itmes.
Carry two (2) forms of ID, at least one (1) with a photo.
Do not leave luggage or personal items unattended even for "just a moment". Your moment can turn into minutes.  Always be aware of your luggage.  Stepping through a luggage strap while sitting down is one way to keep someone from taking the bag while your attention is elsewhere.
Remove all valuables from your vehicle or lock them in the trunk.
Check in advance for arrival and departure information.  Expect long lines at baggage check-in locations, ticket counters and the Passenger Screening Checkpoints.  It is better to wait an extra 30 minutes in the gate area than miss your flight by 3 minutes.  It is recommended that you arrive at the airport 2 hours prior to your flight for  domestic travellers, longer for international travellers.
Avoid last minute surprises.  Check with your airline for ticket information and carry-on and checked-in luggage requirements.
Double check for your wallet. keys and airline tickets.  Wallets, keys and credit cards account for a large percentage of the property turned over to the Airport Police as found property.
Lock all your bags (both checked and carry-on).  Securely attach name tags to all your bags both on the outside and the inside (this takes only a few moments and can mean the difference between losing and recovering everything).  Make sure that your name and phone number (with area code) is plainly readable.
When placing phone calls or using the ATM's, shield your credit and calling cards.  People can be rather creative when it comes to stealing your card numbers.
Do not leave your vehicle unattended in any of the roadways.  We enforce RI General Law on a State level and parking fines are set by the RI State General Assembly at $50.  Towing is also enforced. Short and long term parking is conveniently located and the parking fees are dramatically less that parking tickets.  Since 11 September 2001, waiting at the curb for any reason is strickly prohibited.  Vehicles left at the curb WILL receive enforcement action!
Report any concerns you may have to a police officer.
Airline personel and Skycaps are required to ask certain security related questions.  Always answer these question seriously.  An improper joke about guns, bombs, etc., will result in Airport Police intervention and you might miss your flight, or even worse, receive a notice of civil action (FINES$$$) taken against you by the F.A.A.
