The AMIEL , SMD and Newvision E-Post issues of Dinossaurios ( printing in Euro ) 2002
In the 1 st January 2002 , a historical event took place in Europe with the introduction of a single currency for twelve countries of the European union ( plus San Marino , Monaco and Vaticano Sate ) of this continent : the Euro .
This date opened a new chapter in the ATM colecting , since from this day all the machine printings will be in Euro values only .
In Portugal , the older Klussendorf machines were removed from service , since they could not be updated for the new Euro currency coins , leaving the AMIEL , Crouzet , Newvision E-Post and SMD machines operating .
Initialy , the standart values for this new issues in Euro were : 0,27 / 0,45 / 0,46 / 0,54 / 0,70 Euro and the Correio Azul values of 0,43 ( national ) and 1,75 ( international ) Euro .
This new Euro printing in the AMIEL , Newvision E-Post and SMD machines is very similar ( but diferent ) between them , but there are some interesting diferences .
Like in the previouss PTE / Euro printings , in this new Newvision E-Post printing , the Euro symbol is diferent from the one in the SMD machines : it is higher .

One of the main diferences can be found in the printing size since it is diferent in all the three machines with 1.8 mm in the AMIEL machine , 1.6 mm in the SMD machine and 1.3 mm in the Newvision E-Post machine .

The first AMIEL , Newvision E-Post and SMD machines were updated for the new currency in the second week of January 2002 in a gradual process that was finished on the 1 st March 2002 ( the first day of issue for another ATM issue that would replace the Dinossaurios and Museu das Comunicações older issues ) .
During this short period of time only the Dinossaurios and Museu das Comunicações ATM´s were used in those machines , wich allow to obtain these issues with values in Euro , only .
The oficial and early date of the first appearence of the Euro printing ATM´s should be the 1 st January 2002 , but due to the large number of machines to be updated , not all the machines had been updated on the 1 st January 2002 and the update was progressive , during the first weeks of January 2002 .
For this issue , no official F.D.C. or souvenir was prepared .
A few time later , on March 2002 , ( in the Euro the new European Currency issue ) , a new variety of the AMIEL printing appeared , with a small diference in the respective printing .
In the normal printing , the separation between the decimal digits is made by a normal comma ( , ) but in other machines the same separation between the decimal digits is made by a normal single dot / point ( . )

Regarding to receipts , the AMIEL , SMD and Newvision E-Post machines continued to print the receipts in a piece of white paper but with the values in Euro .
Like in the other ATM issues it was possible to obtain some errors and varieties like double printings , printing test with the Euro symbol and stars ( the printing tet in the SMD machines ) , missing numbers and many others .
