Carol
Jean Barlow Winmill
died January 5, 2002 in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Born April 25, 1928 to Newell and Margaret Fullmer Barlow in Pocatello, Idaho, she spent her early years and attended school in Blackfoot, Idaho. She married J. Dee Winmill on March 29, 1946. They were later sealed for time and all eternity in the Idaho Falls Temple. Together they farmed near Blackfoot and raised six children. Carol returned to school and obtained a B.S. in Nursing from Idaho State University. In 1969, Dee and Carol moved to Pocatello where Carol began her nursing career. Dee died in 1973.
Carol
had two careers and excelled in both. She was a devoted wife, mother and doting
grandmother, as well as a skilled and dedicated registered nurse. Carol
worked in her beloved profession for many years, first in Pocatello and then
Idaho Falls. Her areas of specialization were in pediatrics and respiratory and
intensive care. She helped establish one of the first Respiratory Care Services
and Pulmonary Function Laboratories in the State of Idaho. After physical
ailments made bedside nursing impossible, she spent the last years of her career
in staff education at Bannock Regional Medical Center in Pocatello. After
retirement, she spent her later years in Salt Lake City. Carol
had many diverse interests including cooking, handiwork, gardening, British
History, philosophy and a good debate. She will be sorely missed.
The family would like to especially thank Carol's son, David (our very own
family medical advisor) for the compassionate care he gave his mother over the
last difficult years of her life.
Preceded in death by her husband, parents, and sister, Ada Lucille. Survived by her brother N. Fullmer Barlow (Wilma); sister Geraldine B. Ingram (Richard); children, Richard (Madeline), Terry (Toby), Lynn (Judy), Patricia (Bryce Panzer), David and Jon (Taylor), 17 grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held
Thurs., January 10, 2002, 1 p.m., at the LDS Ward Chapel, 1440 Lakeview,
Pocatello, Idaho. A viewing will be held at the Manning Funeral Home on
Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in Carol's memory may be
made to the Bannock Regional Medical Center's auxiliary to support scholarships
for nursing students.
