Disclaimer? We don’t need no stinking disclaimer. What is up with the disclaimer? Well, Let me tell you…everyone else has one, and I was jealous. There, I said it, are you happy? By now you have probably gotten frustrated and clicked on the button, well for those of you with more patience, who can follow directions, I have a treat for you. The location to my secret treasure is contained at the end of this disclaimer. Riches untold await those of you who are willing to scroll all the way to the end of this message. In the mean time, let me tell you a little bit about myself. I have been collecting militaria since I was a child, although then we didn’t refer to it as collecting, we called it “playing war”. The neighborhood I grew up in was full of kids whose Dads had been in the military during the Vietnam era. It was great, having a ready supply of, albeit oversized, uniforms and gear. I grew up wearing my Dads Air Force uniforms every Halloween, and running around in his jungle boots through the neighborhood, wreaking havoc on whoever the bad guys were that week (Germans, Japanese, VietCong, and later, during the Reagan era, the Soviets, man how things have changed!). Every kid on the block built 1/35th scale military models, the Time Life World War II series was required reading, and we all knew the phonetic alphabet for calling in airstrikes over our Toys-R-Us walkie-talkies. Of course, during my teenage years, militaria was no longer “cool”. Girls weren’t impressed by your collection of vintage SAC patches, or your 1964 Ft. Benning yearbook. So, the stuff all disappeared. It took adulthood to bring about a renewed interest. So, now I collect all the things I loved as a kid, and get to share them with everyone in the world (thanks to the Internet). Oh yea, the treasure, I almost forgot…the treasure is freedom. Freedom which every member of the Armed Forces in every conflict, and in peacetime, has bought for me at a price too dear to mention. Just in case no one has ever said it to you…Thanks! RipperBravo6
