A Brief report on the Memorial Meeting held on 12th April, 2007 at Ramakrishna Mission, New Delhi for paying Homage to Revered Swami Gokulanandaji Maharaj

Ramakrishna Mission, New Delhi conducted a special puja on 12th April 2007 in memory of Revered Swami Gokulanandaji Maharaj who passed away on 31st March' 2007 at the age of  79 years. Nearly 2000 devotees and 75 Monks partook prasad and approx. 700 devotees attended the Meeting on this day.

Everybody remembered Swami Gokulanandaji very much and recalled the pleasant memories from his life.  A film showing the activities of Revered Swamiji in the Delhi Centre was shown at 2:00 p.m.

A Memorial Meeting for Swami Gokulanandaji Maharaj was held at 3:30 p.m. in the Ramakrishna Mission Auditorium.  Swami Shantatmanandaji (Jaishankar Maharaj)  who is now taking over as Secretary, Ramakrishna Mission, New Delhi, said, quoting Swami Vivekananda "I Love you all so much, but I will be happy to see you die working for others" and he said that Gokulanandaji lived such a life. 

Memorial speeches were given by Dr. Karan Singh, Shri L. N. Jhunjhunwala, Shri Rajiv Mehrotra, Dr. S.P. Mandal, Dr. M.D. Thomas.  They mentioned the unique contribution of Swami Gokulanandaji in building the infrastructure, new activities and showering love, care and concern for everyone.  Dr. M.D. Thomas speaking on behalf of the Christian community specially mentioned how Swami Gokulananda enthusiastically celebrated the Christian Eve every year and was a big supporter of the inter-religious movement.

At the end an audio recording of the last talk delivered on 18th March, 2007 of Swami Gokulanadaji on Advaita was played.  Shri Gurudas Chatterjee, Assistant Secretary of the Ramakrishna Mission, New Delhi, proposed a vote of Thanks.
