This shows a birds-eye view of Emma, Kentucky, taken by Emma postmaster Bonnie Walters in 1979. The camera is pointed up Weddington Lane. The river is in the foreground. The large building on the right side of the lane is the Emma United Methodist Church. The two-story ranch house at lower center, facing the river, is the Henry Campbell House. Across the street from the Campbell House is the Weddington Store and the Emma Post Office. John Graham's Trading Post, the first store to be established in Floyd County, was located at or near the site of the Emma Post Office. Graham began surveying the Big Sandy in 1787 for Colonel John Preston of Virginia. He served as Floyd County Surveyor from 1805 to 1835. Photo courtesy of Bonnie Walters of Emma, Kentucky.
