Robert and Anna go to Sean's penthouse to find the treasure. Frisco and Felicia got there before them, snuck in, and are now hiding in Sean's closet. Sean opens front door.
Sean: Well, back again, eh? I wish I could say this is a pleasant surprise, but it's not. Robert (shows Sean warrant) I brought reinforcements this time. Sean: Oh come on Robert. Put that thing away. You don't need a search warrant to enter my house. Robert: I did last night. Sean: Well if you would have tried the door, I would have been maybe a little more cordial. (Anna glares at Robert). Robert: I'll keep that in mind for next time. Sean: Actually, uh, I'm glad you're here. Both of you. Anna: Why is that? Sean: Well, I've been doing some thinking and I came to the realization that my magnificent obsession with the treasure has got to end. Robert: This realization wasn't influenced by the fact that I busted you for stealing it, hmm? Sean: No, but it helped. But your case lacks one important ingredient- evidence. Anna: Are you going to turn over the treasure? Sean: What I have of it. I kept three pieces for myself that were never stored in the warehouse with the rest of the treasure. I uh, intended them for my own private collection. Robert: (he and Anna stare at each other in disbelief) They're here? Sean: Oh yes. I'll give them to you. I want you to return them to the Mexican government. Hopefully that will keep Mendoza {Note: a Mexican government official} happy until you locate the rest of the treasure. Robert: I doubt it. Sean: The main item I kept for myself was the Aztec crown. (note: which is now in the closet in Frisco and Felicia's hands!!). It is far in a way the most valuable piece in all of the treasure, Robert. It is a splendid artifact. Just wait until you see it. (He goes to the safe by the closet door. Felicia is biting her nails and Frisco's holding his breath.) Robert: Are you serious about turning over this to me? Sean: I've never been more serious in my life. It's yours. Robert: I hope so. Sean: (using combination to open safe) I really hate parting with these pieces, Robert. I guess under the circumstances I really don't have a choice, but I'll tell you something old buddy. It was so much fun while it lasted. (The lock clicks) All yours. (Sean looks into the empty safe and stands in shock while Robert becomes more annoyed with the delays) The jewels were here!! Robert: (sarcastically) Maybe somebody stole them. (camera shows Frisco and Felicia again- hovering and listening through the door nervously) Sean: They must have!! Robert: That's it. I've just had it. I've had it playing games with you. Sean: Look Robert. I swear I am not playing any games with you. Robert (moves in closer to Sean) You know, you've lied to me for the last time. Sean: I'm not lying! Don't you see, this is ludicrous. I've been robbed!! Robert: Then tell the police. But I intend to do the job that I came to do. Sean: What? Search the penthouse? Robert: From top to bottom. Sean: But... Robert: I have a warrant which lets me do that so keep out of my way. Sean (calms down) Alright you be my guest. I am not hiding a thing. Robert: That remains to be seen. Sean: Look, you do me a favor if you turn up anything. Because hell man, I tried to give it to you. Robert: You better hope that I turn up something regarding that treasure. Otherwise I'm turning this whole mess over to the authorities. Sean: And do what? And ruin her life.. (he points to Anna) ... your life and my life? Robert: (angered) So be it!! I've given you every chance to make good and you don't give a damn! So you know what? Neither do I. Robert goes upstairs leaving Sean and Anna in the middle of the room. For a minute you can see in Anna's eyes that she believes Sean has been telling the truth. But she stands by Robert's decision. The scene fades out, then returns later. Robert finishes the search in Sean's penthouse and comes back downstairs. Sean: Well? Robert: Nothing. Sean: I told you. Robert: You've told me many things. Sean: What happens now? Robert: You know that as well as I do. Sean: Look Robert, maybe we can work out some kind of arrangement. Robert: I really have nothing to say to you. Sean: What are you gonna do? Robert: You don't leave me much choice. (They stare each other down. Sean leaves the room, while Robert watches him walk out) End of the line. Anna: (frustrated) I tried to talk to him. He won't listen. Robert: This could mean jail for all of us. Anna: I know. Robert: You may want to reconsider leaving Port Charles. Anna: If I don't? (pause) Robert, are you gonna turn all of us in? Robert: I have something more important to do first. Anna: What's that? Robert: I want to tell Holly everything. I want to stop her from suffering any longer. Anna: Well, you've been trying to protect her. Robert: (disgusted) Her or myself? No. Holly has to know the whole story before I do anything else. Anna: I think you're very wise. I know this hasn't been easy for you. (She pauses with difficulty, very emotional) Don't lose the woman you love Robert. Hold on to Holly. You have something very special. Robert: I need to talk to her. (He goes to leave) Anna: But listen, wait!! Do it carefully. Be gentle. I know you have to say something but it's critical the way you say it. She loves you very much. Don't lose that. Robert: I'll try. What about you? Anna: I'll just go home. There's nothing more for me to do here, really. Robert: You want a lift? Anna: No, I can make my own way home. After all you've got enough to do. (he leaves and she starts to cry) |
