The new team consisting of Robert, Anna, Frisco, Felicia, and Grant prepare for the wedding train. Robert has to make a quick trip to Washington to see WSB chief Ballantine to inform him of what's going on. He goes to see Anna at the hotel.
Anna: When you first came in here you said that there was some way I could cover for your trip to Washington. Robert (in a very serious tone) There is. Anna: Okay what is it? (Robert paces) Robert, what is it? Robert: I was just thinking about Holly, that's all. Anna: Well you should do something about it. Don't wait any longer. Find her! Robert: I think she's gone back to nanny. Anna: Well call her for goodness sake! Robert: I mean, I really only want to find out how she is. I don't want to push her for anything important you know. (He picks up the phone to dial) Anna: I know. And meanwhile, you can tell me what it is you would like me to do. The scene fades out... then returns. Robert (hangs up the phone) She asked nanny to store her trunk in the basement of her flat. Anna: Well that obviously means that she intends to end up in London, eventually. Robert: Eventually is a hell of a long time, Anna. However, she did say that it was a good sign that Holly didn't try to contact her. Anna: Why? Robert: Nanny said, since Holly was a little girl, she always went off by herself to make big decisions. It shouldn't be long till she hears from her. Anna: Well, do you feel better now that you've phoned? Robert: Yes. (The phone rings and it's Grant- quick conversation and Robert hangs up with him. Smiles at Anna) You are dressed perfectly. Anna (confused) Thank you. Robert: Let's go out and have some lunch. Anna: Haven't you had enough breakfast? Robert: No, no, no. Lunch. (He smiles) Lunch is best. The scene fades out... then returns. Robert and Anna wind up in the park. Robert knows Sean and Grant are due to show up any minute thanks to Grant's call. Anna: Well, we're here now. What do we do? Robert: They should be here any minute. Anna: Sean and Grant? Robert: Yeah. Anna: You know, I'd love a little clue. Robert: What? Anna: Just a little clue as to what I'm supposed to be doing. Robert: Bedroom. Anna: What? Robert: I see them coming. (He quickly pulls her over to a park bench) Uh...France... ruse... hostage, come on! Anna: What! Robert (all smiles) Pretend like you're happy. Anna (annoyed) I don't think I am really. Robert: Yes, and pretend like you're just a little bit in love. (He starts kissing a very shocked Anna just as Sean and Grant show up. They begin to descend the stairs in the part but stop) Sean: Isn't that Robert and Anna? Grant: Where? Sean: Down there. Robert: You hear the music from the carousel? Anna: Yes. Robert (whispers) Now, I want you to laugh... (so they do, in between kisses). Now we're going to get up and walk back to the bar at the Port Charles restaurant. Anna: Do we have to continue the charade there? Robert: Yes. (They stand. He gives her a big kiss and they walk off.) Sean (suspicious) Robert and Anna seem to be enjoying themselves. Grant: Looks that way, doesn't it? Oh, I don't know what's gonna kill me first, my feet or my hunger. Sean: Yeah, I know what you mean. Lunch is on me. The scene fades out... then returns. At the PC restaurant of course. Robert and Anna at the bar. Grant and Sean at a table. Robert keeps kissing a very nervous Anna. Anna: Do you think this is wise? Robert: Probably not, but it's working. Sean (staring over at Robert and Anna) Maybe it was in the cards all along. The scene fades out... then returns later. Robert goes to Washington for that meeting with Ballantine. Everyone is getting ready for the wedding train and are in costume. Frisco and Felicia try to keep Sean busy at the pre-boarding party while Anna pretends that her and Robert are in her hotel room. Sean finally gets away from Frisco and Felicia and heads over to her room where Anna is praying for Robert's return, all the while setting it up to make it look like he's actually there. She lays his clothes out on the bed, turns on the shower and there's a knock on the door. Anna: Sean. Oh my goodness. We do look dapper. Sean: Why thank you. I hope I'm not interrupting anything. (He looks around the room) Anna: No you didn't. Sean: Missed you and Robert at the party. Anna: Oh I'm sure our absence didn't damper the festivities any. Sean: No. Judging from your dress or shall I say your lack of it, I guess you're not planning on making an appearance? Anna (looks down at her dressing robe and back up at him) Don't take it personally, will you? Sean: Oh, but I do. Anna (feigning disappointment) Oh dear. Well, we'll be along later. Feel free to start without us. Sean: It won't be nearly as much fun. Anna: Well, as you may have gathered, Robert and I are having just as much fun in here all by ourselves. Sean: Why be so selfish? Anna: Oh Sean. (laughs coyly) This is so embarrassing. I mean, surely you're experienced enough to understand when two people want to spend some time alone. Sean: I recognize all the signs immediately. Anna: Good. Then why don't you... Sean: Actually this is going to be most unfortunate. What are the rest of the ladies going to say? (He walks around and scans the room) Anna: Oh well, let them find their own men. Sean: No, no. I meant, we can hardly hold the gay '90's hat contest without you. Anna: I'm sure you'll find a way. Actually Sean, there is something I want to tell you. Sean: Yes I think so. Anna: You see, Robert and I- we want to spend some time alone together. Sean: Why? Anna: Do you want me to spell it out for you? Sean: Please do. Anna: Alright. Well, uh Robert- how shall I put this? Sean (smiles) Put it some way, will you? Anna: Well you see, we seem to have found each other again and we just want to spend some time alone. I mean, I can't let some silly contest keep us apart again, can I? The scene fades out... then returns. Sean walks over to the bathroom. Anna doesn't panic and plays it cool. Anna: You know Sean, you really caught us at a bad time. Robert had just gotten in the shower before you arrived. Sean: You think he knew I was coming? Anna: Look, he may be a while. Why don't I just get him to call you later on. Sean: Oh, I wouldn't want to bother him. Anna: Why? I'll just tell him that you came- Sean: No. I'll just wait until he's finished. You know Anna, it's a mistake to use the same ruse more than once. That's how Robert found the treasure in Bay C the night of Celia's engagement party, remember? Pretending to make love to his wife in the Quartermaine boathouse? (He sits and gets comfortable) I can't understand what's holding you and Robert up. Anna: Take a wild guess, Sean. Sean: Look Anna, I don't have time for your games. I have to get back to the pullman. Anna: Well, Robert will be sorry that he missed you. Sean: Oh well, we can't have that now, can we? Anna: What do you mean? Sean: I wouldn't want to disappoint my old buddy so I'll just look in on him. (He gets up and heads towards bathroom) Anna (panicked, she pushes him back) Oh Sean, no he's- he's very particular about his showers and... (while she nervously stalls, Robert comes out in a towel) Robert: I heard voices out here, love. Is that... (Sean and Anna both shocked to see him) Oh, Sean. Sean: You're here? Robert: Where did you expect me to be? Sean: Oh I just meant that I thought you were gonna spend the entire afternoon in that shower. (nervous laughter from him and Anna) Robert: I've got better things to do (goes over and puts his arm around Anna) Sean: So I gather. Robert: What about you? To what do I owe this obnoxious intrusion? (smiles) Sean: I just wanted to remind you both about the hat contest at the pullman. Robert: Oh we haven't forgotten that, have we darling? Anna: No. It's not on my list of ways to spend the afternoon though. Robert: Oooooh you have no idea how happy I am to hear you say that! (nuzzles her and then gives her a kiss) You know how much I love a competition, but Anna and I are gonna have to pass on this one. We're having a little competition of our own. Anna: I'm way ahead already (her and Robert giggle) Robert: That's right you are! (to Sean) I hope you understand. Sean (annoyed) Of course. I'd probably do the same if I were in your position. I trust you're not planning on missing the train? Robert: Wouldn't miss it for the world. Sean: Not even for an afternoon alone in a hotel room? Robert: Not even that. Sean: Oh I'm flattered. I think I can promise you a trip you'll never forget. Robert: We're expecting no less. (Robert and Anna hug) Sean: Then I'll leave you two alone. Oh and uh, do try and make sure that it doesn't go into overtime, alright? Because the train won't wait. Robert (serious now) We'll be there. Sean (goes to the door and then turns to them again, tips his hat) Touche'. (He leaves and Robert and Anna burst into hysterical laughter. Anna throws herself on the bed and just laughs) Anna: I couldn't believe it! When you walked out of there... how did you get in there? (both hysterical) Robert: Well I've never seen Donely caught so unaware. Anna: Did you see the expression on his face? I tell you, it serves him right barging in here, really. Robert: Well I bet he doesn't try that again in a hurry. Anna: We make a pretty good team, you know? Robert: Why not? We had a good teacher. Anna: Yes and it's only fitting that we should turn his training back on him. Robert: Certainly ironic. (They get ready for the wedding train and they're off) |
