This has to be one of the most frequently asked questions in and outside of my family. Teachers try to use different projects to inspire their pupils to learn good research habits. A family tree project I was assigned in middle school got my attention, but it left me with more questions than what my mother could answer.
I had a cousin that began researching my father's side of the family. She always had an interesting story to tell about the "new" family she had found, and a recently located gravesite to take us to. Those kind of activities made my family vacations fun.
I also had the typical story stating that I was part Indian/Native American. I have not been able to prove that story, but I sure would like to.
Ultimately, I would never have gotten started if it hadn't been for someone showing me how to find the information I wanted and taking the time to help me find it. Thanks Skip for starting me on this hobby that I will never complete!
Lastly, if it's true that when you get to heaven your family meets you at the gates, then I'm going to be surrounded! :-) |
