The Long Island Ducks
The Long Island Ducks are a minor league team playing in the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball.  Their first game was in April 2000, and in 2004 they won the Atlantic League Championship.  I have the chance to go to games every year since 2000.  Sometimes the Ducks win, and sometimes they lose (the home team jinx).  But win or lose, I always have a great time.

Over the years I have seen the Ducks (named for a defunct hockey team) play the Abderdeen Arsenal, the Atlantic City Surf, the Somerset Patriots, the Newark Bears, the Camden RiverSharks, the Lancaster Barnstormers, and the Bridgeport Bluefish.

Besides hosting great baseball, Citibank Park also hosts a blood drive every year, and in 2005 a charity baseball game for the benefit of a service organization called QSAC and for hurricane victims.
