This page is about the descendants of "Yankee John Church". from Wilkes County North Carolina. He was my husband's Great gr. gr. Grandfather. His son Joel Church was my husband's gr gr grandfather. There is lots of information on the web about "Yankee" John. I have found some information in the Buchanan County Library. I have found more on Joel Church. It is said that Joel married Margaret Adams in North Carolina, and he married Caroline "Hobbs", after Margaret died. There are some researchers who say that he was married three times. And he might have been. If any researcher finds any records of that marriage , I would appreciate the info. Below are links to my Church Pages. The picture of the cabin I am using as a border on this page is a picture that my husband and I took in Buchanan County. It is a picture of the Old Hale Creek Primitive Baptist Church. It is stated in the book "Looking Back One Hundred Years" that Lucinda "Church" Osbourne, Joel Church's granddaughter was a member of this Church in the late 1800s. Also Wilson Church, (Joel's grandson) was a Primitive Baptist Preacher in this area. |
